This part of "Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)" applies to UPS installed in the following places: - A single UPS or a UPS system consisting of several UPS interconnected and related controllers/switching devices to form a single power supply; - Connected to Any operator-accessible area or separate electrical location of low-voltage power supply systems for industry, residential, commercial and light industry. This part is intended to be the product standard for the EMC conformity assessment of products of categories C1, C2 and C3 defined below before they are placed on the market. Category C4 equipment is treated as a fixed installation. Usually inspected after installation at its end-use location. Sometimes partial inspections can be done before the installation is complete. See Appendix E. These requirements were chosen to ensure that the UPS has an appropriate level of electromagnetic compatibility in public or industrial locations. However, these levels do not cover extreme situations that can occur in any location, but with low probability. This section considers the different test conditions involved in the range of UPS physical dimensions and power ratings. As an independent product, the UPS unit or UPS system should meet the relevant requirements of this part, but should not consider the EMC phenomenon generated by any load connected to the output of the UPS equipment by the user. This section does not cover special installation environments, nor does it consider UPS failures. This section does not cover DC-powered electronic ballasts or UPS based on rotary units. This standard specifies: - EMC requirements; - test methods; - minimum performance levels.
