Scope
This standard specifies the methods and test requirements for determining the performance of uninterruptible power supply equipment (UPS). It is suitable for electronic indirect AC conversion systems with electric energy storage devices in the DC link. The basic function of the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) involved in this section is to ensure the continuous supply of AC power. Uninterruptible power supply units can also be used to improve the quality of the power supply so that it remains within predetermined characteristics. This part applies to various types of UPS with power ranging from less than 100 W to several megawatts, which can meet users' requirements for different load types, power supply continuity and power supply quality. This section applies to the following electronic uninterruptible power supply equipment (UPS): a) output single-phase or three-phase fixed-frequency AC voltage; b) have energy storage devices in the DC link, unless otherwise specified; c) rated voltage does not exceed AC 1 000 V; d) equipment that may be mobile, stationary and/or fixed. This standard also covers the form of all power transfer switches that are always associated with the output of the UPS and are an integral part of the UPS. These switches include circuit breakers, bypass switches, disconnectors, load transfer switches and interconnection switches. They cooperate with other functional units of UPS to maintain the continuity of load power. This standard does not deal with conventional main switchboards, rectifier input switches or DC switches (such as switches for storage batteries, rectifier output or inverter input, etc.), nor does it apply to UPS based on rotating electrical machines. Note 1: This section considers that most uses of UPS ratings in the market within the scope of this section are related to information technology equipment. According to the current technology, most of the load equipment of UPS are non-linear loads, and can tolerate non-sinusoidal voltage within a limited time. The output ratings of UPS are stipulated to be compatible with linear and non-linear loads. statement. Within the scope of this standard, linear loads are retained for reasons of test methods, or confirmed by the manufacturer's supplementary instructions. Note 2: For UPS with non-sinusoidal output voltage, the load equipment manufacturer’s approval should be obtained beyond the energy storage time recommended in this part. Note 3: For UPS with output frequency other than 50 Hz and 60 Hz, its operating performance standard should be determined through negotiation between the manufacturer and the purchaser. The intent of this standard is to define complete uninterruptible power supply equipment in terms of its operational performance, rather than individual UPS functional units. A separate UPS functional unit shall not contradict this Part in terms of its application according to the provisions of the IEC standard bibliography given in Appendix 1.
