Scope
This standard specifies the methods for determining the carbonyl value of essential oils and the content of carbonyl compounds in isolated and synthetic fragrances. This standard is suitable for the determination of general carbonyl compounds, especially for the determination of carbonyl compounds that cannot be easily converted into oxime compounds and ketones (except methyl ketones) that cannot be determined by the hydroxylamine hydrochloride method. This standard is not applicable to samples containing a large amount of esters or components sensitive to alkali.
