Scope
This guiding technical document establishes a set of methods for the realization of functional safety related only to electromagnetic phenomena for electrical and electronic systems and devices when they are installed and used in operating conditions. The method also relates to the instrumentation used in these systems and devices. This guidance technical document: a) applies to safety-related systems containing electrical/electronic/programmable electronic equipment; b) considers the influence of the electromagnetic environment on safety-related systems; it is intended for designers, manufacturers and It is written by the installer and can be used as a guideline of the relevant standardization technical committee; c) It does not consider the direct harm caused by electromagnetic fields to life, nor does it consider the safety of electrical hazards caused by insulation damage or other mechanical failures. It mainly covers the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) related parts of safety-related systems and equipment used in the design phase, and especially involves -- some basic content in the field of functional safety, -- various EMC-specific methods for managing and implementing functional safety ,--Description and assessment of the electromagnetic environment,-- Regarding the EMC design and integration process, this process should consider the EMC safety plan preparation process at both the system level and the equipment level,--The relevant confirmation and verification process of electromagnetic disturbance immunity ,--Considerations on the performance criteria of safety-related systems and their equipment and some test principles,--Parts of the immunity test of safety-related systems and their equipment to electromagnetic disturbances. This guidance technical document applies to safety-related systems that are required to meet the requirements of IEC 61508 and/or related field-specific functional safety standards. For safety-related systems covered by other functional safety standards, in order to prove whether the relevant methods selected for EMC and functional safety are appropriate, the requirements of this technical guidance document may be considered. For other systems that directly serve safety, this guidance technical document can also be used as a guide when considering EMC requirements.
