See Appendix B for details on safety warnings. This standard specifies the test method for measuring the cetane number of diesel oil with a cetane number testing machine. This standard can also be used for unconventional fuels such as synthetic fuels, vegetable oils and similar products. Cetane numbers range from 0-100, but a typical cetane number test range is 30-65. This standard applies to the quantitative determination of cetane number of compression ignition engine fuel. The samples were tested by a standard single-cylinder, four-stroke, variable compression ratio, indirect injection diesel engine under specified operating conditions.
