Scope: WARNING: Personnel using this standard should be familiar with normal laboratory practice. This standard does not intend to address all safety issues that may arise from the use of this standard. It is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and health systems and ensure compliance with national regulations. This standard specifies two methods for determining the abrasion resistance of vulcanized rubber by means of a rotating roller. This standard includes the determination of the volumetric wear caused by the friction of a sample on a certain level of abrasive cloth. Method A is used for non-rotating samples, method B is used for rotating samples, and the test results are expressed in terms of volume abrasion or abrasion index relative to a certain reference glue. This standard is applicable to comparative tests, quality control, normative basis tests and arbitration purposes, research and development work. It can be inferred that the operating process is not closely related to the results of this abrasion test.
