Scope
This standard deals with requirements and test methods for the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment to repetitive electrical fast transients. In addition, this standard also specifies the range of test levels and determines the test procedures. The purpose of this standard is to establish a common and reproducible basis for evaluating the performance of power supply ports, signal and control ports of electrical and electronic equipment when they are disturbed by repetitive fast transients (bursts). This test is to verify the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment to various types of transient disturbances such as from switching transients (switching off inductive loads, relay contact bounce, etc.). This standard specifies the following items: --Test voltage waveform; --Test level range; --Test equipment; --Test configuration; --Test procedure. The standard gives the technical specifications for the tests carried out in the "laboratory" and the "post-installation tests" for the equipment at the final installation site. This standard does not specify tests for special equipment or systems. Its main purpose is to provide a common basic reference for all relevant professional standardization technical committees. The relevant professional standardization technical committees (or users and manufacturers of equipment) are responsible for selecting appropriate tests and severity levels to apply to their equipment. In order not to hinder the work of coordination and standardization, it is strongly recommended that relevant professional standardization technical committees or users and manufacturers consider adopting the relevant immunity tests specified in this standard in future work or when revising old standards.
