Scope

This part of GB 6675 applies to all toys, that is, any product or material designed or intended to be played by children under 14 years of age. This section applies to toys obtained by consumers for the first time, and also applies to toys that have passed reasonable and foreseeable normal use and abuse tests, unless otherwise specifically stated. This standard specifies requirements for acceptable structural features of toys, including shape, size, contour, clearance (e.g. rattles, small parts, sharp points, sharp edges, hinges, etc.) maximum kinetic energy of head projectiles, minimum dump angles for some ride-on toys, etc.). This part specifies the requirements and test methods for toys of different age groups from newborn babies to children aged 14 years. These requirements vary with the age groups for which the toy is intended. Requirements for toys intended for children of a particular age group are established according to the nature of the hazard and the mental and physical capacity with which the child responds.
