Scope
This section should be used together with the general requirements of GB 12476, which apply to electrical equipment for potting protection and limiting surface temperature, unless otherwise specified. This standard applies to electrical equipment protected by potting type "mD" and limiting surface temperature in combustible dust atmospheres. In this environment, combustible dust can be present in quantities that can create a fire or explosion hazard. This part specifies the design, construction and test requirements for electrical equipment, electrical equipment components and Ex components with a rated voltage not exceeding 10kV. Electrical equipment used in an environment where combustible gas and combustible dust may occur simultaneously or separately requires some additional protective measures. This section does not apply to those pyrotechnic dusts or pyrophoric substances that do not require atmospheric oxygen to burn. This section does not apply to electrical equipment used in underground coal mines and coal mine ground installations where gas and/or combustible coal dust pose a hazard. This section does not consider the hazards caused by flammable or toxic gases emitted by dust. This section does not include other explosion-proof types, only applicable to potting type.
