This part of GB 3836 specifies the terminology, structure, test and marking requirements for intrinsically safe equipment for explosive gas atmospheres and associated equipment connected to intrinsically safe circuits for explosive gas atmospheres. The explosion-proof type specified in this part applies to electrical equipment whose circuit itself will not ignite the surrounding explosive atmosphere. This section also applies to the intrinsic safety performance of circuits used in non-explosive gas atmospheres depends on the design and construction of the electrical equipment or its components. Circuits exposed to explosive gas atmospheres can be assessed for suitability for use in this environment.
