Scope
This standard specifies the determination of the 2-bit fatty acid (β or endo) component of triglyceride molecules in animal and vegetable oils and fats. Due to the activity of pancreatic lipase, this method is only applicable to oils with a melting point below 45°C. This method does not apply to fats and oils containing: - fatty acids containing twelve or fewer carbon atoms (e.g. coconut oil, palm kernel oil, butter); - highly unsaturated fatty acids containing twenty or more carbon atoms Fatty acids (more than four double bonds) (eg fish and marine oils); - fatty acids containing oxidized subgroups.
