Scope: This part of GB/T 13288 specifies the method for the calibration of ISO surface roughness comparison samples and the microscopic focusing method for surface roughness that meet the requirements of GB/T 13288.1. This standard can be used for the determination of the surface roughness of steel materials that are basically planar after blast cleaning and whose average peak-to-valley difference is in the range of h = 20µm to 200µm. If direct observation of the surface roughness is not possible, surface roughness measurements shall be made on representative areas of the blast-cleaned substrate surface or on replicated surfaces (see Annex E). For an alternative method see ISO 8503-4.
