Scope
This standard specifies the method for direct determination of water content in crude oil by Karl Fischer coulometric titration. For crude oil whose content of mercaptan sulfur or divalent sulfide ion sulfur or the total amount (mass fraction) of both is in the range of 0.005%~0.05%, the determination range (mass fraction) of this method for water is 0.050%~5.00% ;For the crude oil whose content of mercaptan sulfur or divalent sulfide ion sulfur or the total amount of both (mass fraction) is less than 0.005%, the determination range (mass fraction) of this method for water is 0.020%~5.00%. The application of this standard may involve hazardous substances, operations and equipment, but this standard does not address all safety issues associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of limitations prior to use.
