Scope: This standard specifies procedures for obtaining liquid hydrocarbon, tank residue and sediment samples by hand from stationary tanks, rail tank cars, road tank cars, tankers and barges, drums and cans, or from pipelines (see 4.3) that are transporting liquids. method. This standard is applicable to taking samples from liquid petroleum products, crude oil and intermediate products stored in oil tanks or transported by pipelines. The pressure in the tanks should be at or near normal pressure. The product should be liquid from near ambient temperature up to 100°C. The sampling method stipulated in this standard is not applicable to the sampling for special property analysis of special petroleum products. The collection of samples for the analysis of special properties of such petroleum products should be carried out in accordance with the provisions of other relevant standards, such as electrical insulating oil, liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas, asphalt and chemical products, and unidentified products with a Reid vapor pressure higher than 180kPa (1.8bar). Sampling of stable crude oil has corresponding special requirements.
