Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, method principles, inspection methods, requirements and preparation of comparative test blocks, inspection equipment and its debugging, inspection conditions and procedures, result evaluation, inspection reports, etc. for ultrasonic inspection of low-magnification defects of steel. This standard is applicable to the ultrasonic inspection of low-magnification defects of rolled and forged steel products (billets) with simple cross-sections such as square, rectangular, and circular, and is also applicable to the defect inspection of other steel preparations and billets.
