Scope

This standard specifies the technical conditions for general-purpose Class II centrifugal pumps of single-stage, multi-stage, horizontal or vertical structure with any type of drive and installation. Pumps used in the chemical process industry (such as pumps meeting the requirements of the international standard GB/T 5662) are typical pumps described in this standard. This standard covers design features related to installation, maintenance and safety including bases, couplings and auxiliary piping, but does not specify conditions for drivers other than those related to their rated output power. Where a special design feature is required where application of this standard is already required, an alternative design conforming to the intent of this standard may be provided provided it is specified. Pumps that do not fully comply with the requirements of this standard may be offered for consideration provided all non-compliance is accounted for.
