Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of mechanical seals and soft packings of axial suction centrifugal pumps (hereinafter referred to as pumps), dimensions of seal chambers and seal end cover accessories, and design requirements for seal chambers. This standard applies to general purpose and heavy duty pumps. This standard does not apply to mud pumps and impurity pumps.
