Scope
This standard specifies the minimum requirements for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of the emission, immunity and performance criteria of ship electrical and electronic equipment, and helps to meet the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (hereinafter referred to as IMO) Resolution A.813 (see Appendix A). The equipment tested and installed according to this standard meets the relevant IM0 requirements. Note 1: The normative content of this standard has been used as a standard in the EMC series of standards. Note 2: This standard does not address the impact on personnel. This standard gives further guidance and recommendations on measurement methods to achieve electromagnetic compatibility of electrical and electronic devices in the following groups of equipment. Group A: Radiocommunication and navigation equipment Group B: Power generation and transformation equipment Group C: Equipment working with pulsating energy Group D: Switchgear and control systems Group E: Internal communication and signal processing equipment Group F: Non-electrical parts and equipment Group G: Integrated systems IEC 60945 is the base EMC standard for groups A and C. Note: This standard does not specify non-safe operation and basic safety requirements such as protection against electric shock and equipment dielectric (strength) tests.
