This standard applies to all grid commutation HVDC converter stations. Such converter stations are used in power systems to convert power. This standard assumes that a 12-pulse thyristor converter is used, but a 6-pulse thyristor converter can also refer to this standard. In some projects, synchronous compensators or static var compensators may be connected to the AC bus of the HVDC converter station. This standard does not cover methods for determining the losses of these devices. A typical HVDC device is shown in Figure 1. This standard proposes a set of standard methods for determining the total losses of HVDC converter stations. This calculation method covers all parts except the equipment mentioned above, defines no-load losses and operating losses, and proposes a calculation method to determine these losses using measured parameters as much as possible. If the design of the converter station uses new components or new circuit structures compared with the typical design assumed in this standard, or uses special auxiliary circuits that may affect the losses, the losses should be determined according to the specific circumstances.
