Scope
This standard defines the terms used for high-voltage direct current transmission systems and high-voltage direct current converter stations that use power converters to convert alternating current to direct current or vice versa. This standard applies to HVDC converter stations with grid-commutated converters usually based on a three-phase bridge (two-circuit) connection using one-way electronic valves (such as semiconductor valves) (see Figure 2).
