- Scope
- This standard specifies Part 4 of the "Electrical Installations of Buildings" standard: the protection of atmospheric transient overvoltages introduced by power supply and distribution systems in safety protection and the protection of operating overvoltages generated by internal equipment of electrical installations. This standard provides guidance on two overvoltage protection measures including self-suppression (relying on the insulation level of the system itself) or protective suppression (relying on the overvoltage protection of the installation of protective devices). If overvoltage protection is not provided in accordance with the requirements of this standard, insulation coordination cannot be guaranteed, and the risk of overvoltage shall be assessed.
