Scope
This standard specifies the essential characteristics of reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engines used in alternating current (ac) generating sets. This standard applies to ac generator sets (RIC) engines for land and marine use and does not apply to generator sets for aviation or for driving land vehicles and locomotives.
