This standard specifies the principles of a unified system for risk assessment (see Chapter 6 of GB/T 15706.1-1995). This International Standard describes the procedure known as risk assessment by which knowledge and experience concerning the design, use, incidents, accidents and injuries of machinery are brought together to evaluate risks during the life cycle of the machinery. This International Standard gives guidance on the information needed to conduct risk assessments. Procedures for identifying hazards, assessing and assessing risks are specified. The purpose of this International Standard is to provide advice on decision-making regarding machinery safety issues and the type of documentation required to verify risk assessments. This standard does not specify in detail the methods for analyzing hazards and assessing risks. Such details are otherwise described in other literature, such as textbooks or other reference documents.
