Scope

This document specifies the DLMS/COSEM wired and wireless M-Bus communication configurations for local and community networks. Setting up and managing M-Bus communication channels of M-Bus devices and M-Bus networks, as well as registering slave devices and (if necessary) repeaters, is outside the scope of this document. The scope of this communication profile standard is limited to the communication protocol application aspects combined with the COSEM data model and the DLMS/COSEM application layer. Data structures specific to the communication protocol are outside the scope of this document. The data structure and data content for any particular project may be provided by the project-specific companion specification. Appendix A provides information on the M-Bus frame structure, addressing scheme and coding examples. Appendix B specifies the COSEM interface classes for establishing and managing wired and wireless M-Bus communication channels. Appendix C provides MSC (message sequence diagram) of typical communication examples.
