Scope
This part of "Explosive Atmospheres" specifies the requirements for the design, construction, evaluation, testing and marking of rooms used to protect internal equipment in the following locations: located in Zone 1 or Zone 2, or Zone 21 or Zone 22 explosive atmospheres (usually require EPLGb , Gec, Db or Dc area), a room protected by positive pressure that does not contain gas/vapor release sources inside; located in a zone 2 explosive atmosphere (areas where EPLGe is usually required), and does not contain gas/vapor release sources inside , a room protected by artificial ventilation; ——in a non-hazardous location, a room containing gas/vapor release sources inside, protected by artificial ventilation; located in Zone 1 or 2, or Zone 21 or Zone 22 explosive atmosphere (usually requiring EPLGb, Gc, Db or Dec), a room containing a gas/vapor release source and protected by both positive pressure and artificial ventilation. Rooms in this section include individual rooms, multiple rooms, a complete building or rooms within a building. The room is equipped with passages for people to enter and exit, and pipes for gas in and out. Soundproofing and other similar enclosures designed to allow personnel to enter may also be considered a room. This section also specifies the requirements for relevant safety devices and controls necessary to ensure that artificial ventilation, air exchange and positive pressure are achieved and maintained. Rooms that are assembled or constructed on site and can be built on land or sea. Such rooms are primarily installed by the end user, but can be fabricated and rated at the manufacturer's factory, with final pipe connections made on site. The room can be located in an explosive gas environment requiring equipment protection level (EPL) of Gb or Ge, or in a combustible dust environment requiring equipment protection level C (EPL) of Db or De. This section does not provide for methods of ensuring that the air quality and temperature in a room are suitable for the work that may be required by personnel. Rooms protected by inert or flammable gases are not within the scope of this section. It is generally believed that this kind of application is a special case, and part of it can be considered to adopt the principles of GB/T3836.5, but overall it may also need to comply with other more stringent engineering standards, procedures and practical requirements. The positive pressure enclosure of equipment that complies with GB/T3836.5 is not used for personnel access and does not fall within the scope of this section. See Appendix A for maintenance recommendations. Except for the inapplicable situations described in Table 1, this section has additions and supplements based on the general requirements of GB3836.1. Not applicable: The requirements of GB3836.1 are not applicable. Modification: The requirements of GB3836.1 have been modified in this part. Note: The title of the clauses applicable to the requirements of GB3836.1 is normative content. This table is compiled in accordance with the specific requirements of GB3836.1.
