Scope
This document applies to low-voltage arc extinguishing devices, referred to as AQD, which eliminate arc faults in low-voltage complete equipment (typical low-voltage complete switchgear and control equipment in line with the IEC61439 series) by forming a low-impedance current loop, so that the arc current is transferred to the new current loop. This new current loop will be maintained until the short-circuit protective device (SCPD) interrupts the short-circuit current. These appliances are installed on the main distribution line of low-voltage complete equipment, preferably as close as possible to the main power supply. The rated voltage does not exceed AC 1000V or DC 1500V. This document does not include: --- sensors used to detect arc faults; --- electrical appliances used to trigger the function of arc extinguishing appliances; --- electrical appliances used to cut off arc fault current; --- AQD used in explosive atmospheres special requirements (such as ATEX).
