Scope
This standard specifies additional requirements for the assessment of external conditions of offshore wind turbine sites, as well as basic design requirements to ensure the engineering integrity of offshore wind turbines. Its purpose is to provide an appropriate level of protection during the expected life of the wind turbine to prevent losses from various hazards to the wind turbine. This standard is dedicated to the engineering integrity of the structural components of offshore wind turbines, and also involves subsystems, such as control and protection mechanisms, internal electrical systems, and mechanical systems. If the supporting structure of the wind turbine is subjected to hydrodynamic loads, it can be identified as an offshore wind turbine. The design requirements specified in this standard cannot fully guarantee the engineering integrity of floating offshore wind turbines. This standard should be used together with the IEC, ISO and corresponding national standards mentioned in Chapter 2. In particular, this standard fully complies with the requirements of GB/T 18451.1. The safety level of offshore wind turbines designed by this standard should not be lower than GB/T 18451.1. In some chapters, there are excerpts from GB/T 18451.1 in order to clearly understand the specified requirements.
