This standard specifies the design requirements necessary to ensure the engineering integrity of wind turbines. Its purpose is to provide an appropriate level of protection against various hazards causing damage to the wind turbine during the expected lifetime of the wind turbine. This standard deals with various subsystems of wind turbines, such as control and protection devices, internal electrical systems, mechanical systems and support structures. This standard should be used together with the IEC, ISO and national standards mentioned in Chapter 2.
