Scope

This part of GB/T 5169 specifies a small-scale laboratory test procedure for comparing the combustion performance of different materials used in electrical and electronic products. In a small flame with a power of 50 W. This test method is used to determine the linear burning rate or self-extinguishing properties of materials. The test methods in this part are applicable to solid materials and foamed plastics with an apparent density not less than 250 kg/m³ when determined according to the method of ISO 845. This section gives two test methods. Method A is a horizontal burning test designed to measure the linear burning rate of a material under specified test conditions. Method B is a vertical burning test designed to measure the self-extinguishing ability of a material under specified test conditions. The classification methods specified in the test methods described in this standard (see 8.4 and 9.4) can be used for quality assurance, preselection of the materials of which the product is composed, or to verify the minimum fire rating required for the materials used in the finished product. This part is intended for product standards committees to prepare standards according to the principles specified in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51. One of the tasks of the Product Standards Committee is to use this series of standards wherever applicable when writing its own standards. Unless specifically mentioned or listed in the relevant standard, the requirements, test methods or test conditions of this section will not apply.
