GB/T 14455.7-1993 Essential oils. Determination of ester value after acetylation and evaluation of free alcohols and total alcohols content (English Version)
This standard specifies a method for the determination of ester value after acetylation. Free and total alcohol content was assessed by measuring ester values before and after acetylation. This standard applies to essential oils containing primary and secondary alcohol components. This standard does not apply to essential oils containing a certain amount of the following ingredients. Tertiary alcohols: they cannot be completely acetylated; phenols, lactones, aldehydes or easily enolized ketones: they will also be acetylated together with the free alcohols.
