Scope

This standard specifies the method of determining the ester value after acetylation to evaluate the content of free alcohol in essential oils. This standard applies to essential oils containing a certain amount of tertiary alcohols, such as linalool and terpineol. This standard does not apply to essential oils containing a certain amount of phenols, anthranilates, lactones and aldehydes.
