This standard specifies the material performance parameters of ceramic cutting tools (microstructure, hardness, density, chemical composition, flexural strength, thermal conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient, thermal hardness, thermal shock resistance, impact toughness, fracture toughness, friction performance, machinability etc.) detection methods. This standard is applicable to the performance parameter testing of two major types of ceramic tool materials, alumina (AlO)-based and silicon nitride (SiN)-based.
