Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, units of measurement, measurement requirements, technical requirements, marks, operating instructions, seals, applicability of pressure tapping holes, measurement control, type evaluation, initial verification and follow-up test. This standard applies to flow meters based on any measurement technology or operating principle for measuring the volume or mass of gaseous fuel or other gases passing through them under operating conditions, and also applies to flow meters with additional electronic devices, built-in correction devices, built-in temperature compensation device and other possible additional devices. This standard does not apply to flow meters for measuring liquid gases, multiphase gases, steam, and flow meters for measuring compressed natural gas used in compressed natural gas (CNG) dispensers. See OIML R140 for the relevant requirements for conversion devices used as flowmeter components or independent products, devices for determining higher calorific value, and gas flow measurement systems composed of multiple units.
