Scope

This part of GB/T 14837 specifies the method for determining the content of components such as total organic matter, carbon black and ash in vulcanized and unvulcanized rubber by using a thermogravimetric analyzer. The mass loss at 300 °C is an approximate value of the volatile substance content in the compound. This section applies to the following rubbers and their vulcanizates or compounds used alone or in combination: a) synthetic isoprene rubber or natural rubber (IR or NR); b) butadiene rubber (BR); c) benzene Ethylene-butadiene rubber (SBR); d) isobutylene-isoprene rubber (commonly known as butyl rubber, IIR); e) ethylene-propylene binary and terpolymers (EPM, EPDM). This section does not apply to those rubbers that form carbonaceous residues during cracking, such as rubbers containing chlorine or nitrogen. This section does not apply to various vulcanizates or compounds containing compounding agents that form carbonaceous residues during cracking, such as vulcanizates or compounds containing cobalt salts, lead salts and phenolic resins. This section does not apply to polymers containing mineral fillers such as carbonates or hydrated alumina, which decompose in the test temperature range of 25 ℃ to 650 ℃. If it must be used, it should be properly corrected according to the characteristics of the packing. This section does not apply to the determination of the total polymer content in the following vulcanized rubber and unvulcanized rubber: According to GB/T 3516-2006, the non-rubber organic components cannot be completely removed.
