This standard applies to three-pole AC load switches with rated voltage of 72.5 kV and above, rated frequency of 50 Hz, with making and breaking current ratings, for indoor and outdoor installation. This standard also applies to the operating mechanism of the load switch and its auxiliary equipment. The main objective of this standard is to determine the requirements for load switches used in transmission systems. The general-purpose load switch designed for this purpose meets the following operating requirements:--Continuously carry the rated current;--Carry the short-circuit current within the specified time;--Switch active load current; Open and close the charging current of no-load cables, overhead lines or busbars;--open and close closed-loop circuits;--close short-circuit current. A higher objective of this standard is to determine the requirements for dedicated and special purpose load switches used in transmission systems. The dedicated load switch should meet one or more of the above operating conditions. In addition to meeting one or more operating conditions of general load switches, special-purpose load switches should also meet one or more of the following operating conditions: --opening and closing a single capacitor bank;--opening and closing a back-to-back capacitor bank;- - opening and closing parallel reactors, including switching secondary side or tertiary winding side shunt reactors from the primary side of the transformer; - operating conditions requiring increased operating cycles; - in non-effectively grounded neutral point systems Switching under ground fault conditions.
