Scope

This standard stipulates the manufacture and use of standard air gaps for voltage measurement, and is applicable to the measurement of the following voltage peaks: a) power frequency AC voltage; b) standard lightning impulse full-wave voltage; c) operating impulse voltage; d) DC voltage. Air gaps fabricated and used in accordance with this standard are mainly used for performance testing of high-voltage measuring systems.
