Scope: This standard specifies the safety requirements for the design and manufacture, installation, use and maintenance of belt conveyors (hereinafter referred to as "conveyors"). This standard is applicable to fixed belt conveyors for conveying various bulk, granular and other loose materials as well as finished items. This standard does not apply to underground belt conveyors in coal mines, belt conveyors directly in contact with food or medicine, and passenger belt conveyors. For conveyors conveying flammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive, radioactive and other materials, in addition to complying with this standard, they should also comply with the corresponding standards.
