Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the bromine value of petroleum fractions and industrial aliphatic olefins by potentiometric titration. This standard applies to the determination of the bromine value of the following samples: a) Petroleum fractions whose 90% distillation temperature (measured by GB/T 6536) is below 327°C and do not contain components lighter than isobutane, such as gasoline (including leaded gasoline, unleaded gasoline and oxygenate fuels), kerosene and all distillates meeting the conditions in Table 1; b) industrial olefins with a bromine value between 95 g/100 g and 165 g/100 g. Industrial olefins are generally mixtures of aliphatic monoolefins, such as industrial propylene terpolymers, propylene tetramers, butene dimers, and mixtures of nonene, octene and heptene. The bromine value can reflect the amount of substances that can react with bromine, but it cannot be used to identify the types of substances. Appendix A gives the results of the bromine value of the compound determined by potentiometric titration. Only the compounds given in Appendix A can be used for the determination of olefinic unsaturation. To convert Bromine Number to Bromine Index, multiply by a factor of 1,000. However, for petroleum hydrocarbon mixtures whose bromine value is less than 1.0 g/100 g, in order to obtain more accurate determination results, it is recommended to use GB/T 11136 or SH/T 0630 method; For the sample, it can be determined by GB/T 11136, SH/T 0630 method or aromatic hydrocarbon bromine index determination method SH/T 1551, SH/T 1767. When selecting the determination method, attention should be paid to the scope of application of each standard method.
