Scope: This standard specifies a test method using absorbent sheets to determine the migration of plasticizers into other materials in close contact with them. This standard is suitable for the quantitative determination of the migration loss of plastics when they come into contact with materials that have the ability to absorb plasticizers. It is also suitable for evaluating the tendency of plasticizers to migrate from plastics to other materials in close contact with them. When this standard is used to compare different plasticizers, compounds should be prepared using well-defined resins and known proportions of plasticizers.
