This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, types and dimensions of insulators for ground wires of high-voltage overhead transmission lines (referred to as ground wire insulators). This standard applies to disc-shaped suspended ground wire porcelain or glass insulators, long rod-shaped ground wire porcelain insulators and rod-shaped suspended ground wire composite insulators used for ground wires in high-voltage overhead transmission lines. This standard does not apply to ground insulators used in environments where there is severe corrosion to the metal accessories of the insulator.
