Scope

This part of GB 1001 applies to porcelain or glass insulators for AC overhead power and traction lines with a nominal voltage higher than 1000V and a frequency not exceeding 100Hz. This section is also applicable to insulators for DC overhead power traction lines. This standard applies to insulator string elements, rigid insulators for overhead lines and insulators of similar construction for substation applications. This Part does not apply to insulators constituting electrical components or components used in electrical structures, as well as post insulators included in GB 8287.1 "High Voltage Post Porcelain Insulators Part 1: Technical Specifications". The tests of insulator strings and insulator groups (such as wet operation impulse voltage) are discussed in Part 2 of GB 1001. The purpose of this standard is to: — define the terms used; — specify the characteristics of insulators and the conditions for testing the specified values of these characteristics; — specify the test methods; — specify the criteria for judgment. This standard does not include selection requirements for insulators for special conditions. The characteristic values of insulators are specified in the corresponding product standards.
