This part specifies the method for the determination of polymer content in styrene for industrial use. The spectrophotometric method in this section is applicable to the determination of styrene samples with a polymer content ranging from 1 mg/kg to 15 mg/kg. If the polymer content of the sample is greater than 15mg/kg, it should be properly diluted before the measurement. The visual method in this section is applicable to the determination of styrene samples with a polymer content (mass fraction) not greater than 1.0%. When the polymer content (mass fraction) of the sample is greater than 1.0%, it should be properly diluted before the measurement. This section does not apply to the detection of dimers and trimers in industrial styrene. This section is not intended to explain the safety issues related to its use, the user is responsible for taking appropriate safety and health measures, and to ensure compliance with relevant national regulations.
