Scope
This standard specifies the ultrasonic testing method and quality grade assessment requirements for using type A pulse reflection ultrasonic instrument to detect weld defects in atmospheric steel storage tanks. This standard is applicable to the ultrasonic testing of butt and T-shaped welded joints of atmospheric steel storage tanks with a thickness of (4 to 23) mm. This standard does not apply to ultrasonic testing of castings and austenitic stainless steel welds.
