This chapter in GB 4706.1-1998 is replaced by the following content: This part of GB 4706 involves single-phase appliances whose rated voltage does not exceed 250 V, other appliances not exceeding 480 V, and the following appliances powered by batteries with a DC voltage not exceeding 24 V safety. - refrigerating appliances for household and similar purposes; - ice-making machines having an electric motor-compressor and ice-making machines intended to be installed in refrigerated food storage compartments; - refrigerating appliances for camping, recreational vehicles and recreational boats and ice machine. These appliances may be mains powered, powered by a separate battery or powered by either the mains or a separate battery. This standard also deals with the safety of ice cream makers intended for domestic use, the rated voltage of which does not exceed 250 V single-phase and 480 V for other appliances. This section also applies to compression appliances using flammable refrigerants for household and similar purposes. This part does not include the structure and working characteristics of refrigerating appliances, which are covered in the ISO standard. Appliances which are not intended for general household use but which may nevertheless pose a danger to the public, such as appliances used in shops, light industry and farms by persons unfamiliar with the use of electricity, also fall within the scope of this standard. As far as the actual situation is concerned, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances, which are likely to be encountered by all persons in the home and the surrounding environment of the home. This standard does not normally consider: - appliances used by unattended children or infirm persons; - appliances played by children. Note 1: Attention should be paid to the following facts: - for appliances intended to be used in vehicles, ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be required; - in many countries, ministries of health, labor protection and transport have additional requirements . Note 2: This standard does not apply to: - appliances intended for use in open air; - appliances designed for industrial use; - appliances intended for use in special locations, such as: the presence of corrosive or explosive gases ( dust, steam or gas); - appliances intended to use batteries as the power supply for the cooling function; - appliances assembled on site by the installer; - appliances with a remote-controlled motor-compressor; - motor-compressor vending machine (GB 4706.17); - commercial automatic vending machine (GB 4706.72); - commercial ice cream machine.
