Except for the following content, this chapter in GB 4706.1-1992 is applicable. This article is replaced by the following: This standard is applicable to: - Refrigerators, frozen food storage boxes and food freezers with or without frozen food storage compartments for household and similar purposes, and their combinations; - Equipped with Electric motor-compressor ice makers and ice makers determined to fit into food freezers or frozen food storage compartments; -- Refrigerators and freezers for use on camping, recreational vehicles, and recreational watercraft. These appliances may be operated electrically, on batteries or on either electricity or batteries, and they may additionally be powered by other sources of energy (gas or oil). This standard deals with the safety rules for the above-mentioned appliances. However, it does not include the structure and working performance of refrigerators and freezers, which are covered in ISO standards. Certain tests concerning stability and mechanical hazards are listed in Appendix BB. Some of these tests are taken from ISO standards. The clauses related to the safety of electric heating appliances in GB 4706.1-1992, if applicable, can be applied to absorption refrigerators or food freezers, and can also be applied to electric heating elements installed in compression refrigerators or food freezers. Appliances which are not intended for general household use but which may nonetheless be a cause of danger to the public, such as appliances used in shops, light industrial factories and farms by persons unfamiliar with the use of electricity, also fall within the scope of this standard. This standard does not consider some special hazards in living places such as nurseries and unattended elderly, sick and disabled. In this case, additional requirements apply. This standard does not apply to: - appliances designed for industrial use; - appliances intended to be used under special corrosive and explosive conditions (such as dust, steam or flammable gases); - individual electric motors. Additional requirements apply to appliances used in vehicles, ships or aircraft.
