This standard specifies two methods for the determination of moisture and volatile matter content in animal and vegetable fats and oils. - Method A uses a sand bath or an electric heating plate; - Method B uses an electric drying oven. Method A applies to all fats. Method B applies only to non-drying fats with an acid number below 4; it does not apply to oils of the lauric type (palm kernel oil and coconut oil).
