This standard applies to lamps (filament lamps and discharge lamps) used as headlamps, fog lamps and signal lamps of road motor vehicles. It applies especially to those bulbs covered by the regulations. In particular, it includes those bulbs covered by Regulations Nos. 37 and 99 of the Geneva Agreement of March 20, 1958 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE). This part specifies the test methods and technical requirements for basic interchangeability (dimensions and photoelectric performance) of product bulbs and standard bulbs. For most of the requirements specified, see the "Related Data Sheet". For all bulbs listed in Clause 5, data sheets are included in this section. The requirements for bulb life, luminous flux maintenance, torsional strength, vibration resistance and impact resistance are specified in GB/T 15766.2. Information such as the temperature limit and the maximum outline of the bulb are also included in GB/T 15766.2 to guide the design of lighting devices. The road motor vehicle light bulbs used for auxiliary purposes that are not covered by the regulations are specified in GB/T 15766.3. When formulating accreditation regulations, it is recommended to evaluate the consistency of products according to this part. GB/T 15766.2 and GB/T 15766.3 are not used for this purpose.
