- This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage and safety requirements for industrial ethylene glycol. This standard is applicable to industrial ethylene glycol produced by direct oxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide and then hydration. This product is mainly used as a monomer for the production of polyester and alkyd resins and as an electrolyte for electrolytic capacitors. In addition, it can also be used as antifreeze, plasticizer, solvent, etc. Molecular formula: C2H6O2 Relative molecular mass: 62.069 (according to the international relative atomic mass in 2001)
