Scope: 1.1 This section specifies methods for the stereological determination of basic morphological characteristics of endogenous nonmetallic inclusions in steel and other metals using automated image analysis. This section also applies to the determination of any discrete second phase structure. 1.2 This part focuses on how to obtain stereological data when it is difficult to obtain reliable statistical data for the measured tissue characteristics. 1.3 This test method is only a recommended test method, and it does not have any rigid regulations and acceptable ranges.
