This standard specifies the general test method for the determination of the electrical resistivity (specific resistance) of aqueous pigment extracts. This method is applicable to all pigments and extenders (except pigments that are obviously water soluble). It must be pointed out that the resistivity of the pigment water extract is a property of the pigment, and it has nothing to do with the amount of water-soluble matter. If it is agreed, the cold extraction method can be used, but it needs to be indicated in the report. The standard temperature for measurement is 23°C, and different temperatures can be used after negotiation between relevant parties, but temperature differences must be considered and necessary corrections must be made. Note: When this general method is applicable to a specified pigment, the method should be indicated in the product standard for that pigment, and any detailed changes required due to the characteristics of the pigment should be noted. A specific method is prescribed for the determination of the resistivity of aqueous extracts only when this general method is not applicable to a particular pigment.
